Surveillance

No photos for this one. I just wanted to document a story that we don’t want to forget…

We have a baby monitor in Jack’s room. Jack is pretty tricky to settle at night. Often we see him climbing around in his bed; not sleeping. Usually we pop into his room to remind him that he’s supposed to be settling down. Sometimes I have used the intercom feature on the camera. With the app on my phone I can hold down a microphone icon and make an announcement in his room like a walkie-talkie. I usually say something “Jack, lie down and go to sleep” in a no-nonsense voice. When I’ve done this he has gone from sitting up to lying down in a rigid “at attention” posture instantly. He thrusts his head back into the pillow with some force. That alone is worth a video now that I think of it.

Anyway, the reason for this story was really about an afternoon nap with Nanna. Judy was lying in bed with him helping him settle (Mum and Dad don’t have the patience for this). This reduces Jack’s fidgeting around. He lays still and chatters a little before nodding off. What was amusing about this particular occasion was that while Jack was chattering with Nanna in bed he craned his neck to whisper directly into Nanna’s ear “Dad’s watching us”. 😂

Fay recommended that we make a note of this story, and this blog is probably the best diary we have.

  1. Jack was so serious when he told me we were being watched. I said to Jack we should have a sleep or we will be in trouble. He went straight to sleep. It was brilliant. Judy (Nan)
